He is just not good at speaking impromptu.

There is also too much tape contradicting Mitt for Senate, Mitt for Governor, and Mitt for President I and II.

Sure looks like Romney’s running in 2012. Just from the perspective of blogworthy content, I’m thrilled … My heart says “stop” but my traffic sensibility cries “proceed.”

Then again, I suspect most of us here would roll our eyes at the tawdry fare that passes for “politics” at places like Hot Air. Guys like Allahpundit read stuff like this from David Bernstein:

… the new Romney is now de-emphasizing social issues like abortion, same-sex marriage, and illegal immigration. He has made no public comment, for instance, about last week’s announcement that top military leaders intend to end the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, has scrupulously avoided association with the Tea Party movement, and has refrained from backing conservatives that other presidential hopefuls have endorsed, such as Doug Hoffman in New York or Marco Rubio in Florida.

And proceed to carry on as if a graf like that actually conveys new information that gets us beyond what we already knew about Mitt Romney.

Whereas it strikes me as the height of silliness. But maybe that’s just me. I have a hard time viewing a Romney candidacy as anything but a fool’s errand. Am I wrong?

And that’s a serious question. Because if I’m right, unlike Allahpundit, I’d rather go ahead and hit the ignore button now and not wait until Romney 2.0 crashes and burns before recognizing that my time could’ve been better spent doing something – anything – other than bloviating about a guaranteed loser.
