I often encounter people who say they can’t leave the church because that would be disrespecting the HUGE sacrifice their ancestors made, of leaving everything behind in order to adopt a new belief system they were certain would provide greater happiness to them and their offspring.

and I say, “You’re telling me that it would be disrespectful to your ancestors’ willingness to adopt a new belief system they were certain would provide greater happiness to them and their offspring, if YOU adopted a new belief system you were certain would provide greater happiness to you and your offspring? You’re telling me that imitating your ancestors is the best way of dishonoring their decision? Seems to me that imitating them is actually the best way to honor them.”

So, yeah, I agree that the church itself provides the means and the example by which to leave it.

That sp@m site is the most painful encounter I have had on the internet. It actually hurts my head. With defenders like that The Mormon Church needs no enemies.

Yes, I do. I’ve talked a little about him on the foyer (see SP@M topic). He watches my every action that he can search for in google, so I don’t know if he’s already reading this (since MSP is attached to the foyer), and I already wrote once about it on Irr (Dis). So I’ll avoid linking directly because that’ll definitely tip him off.
