Main Street Plaza A Community for Anyone Interested in Mormonism.

may not matter, but you can try

I wasn’t aware of this until I received an email from my ultra-conservative Mormon uncle encouraging me to vote against it, but Hawaii’s state legislature is currently in the process of approving civil unions. However, the measure deadlocked in committee in the senate. The senate majority leader (Democrat) says they can pull it from the committee with a majority and pass it, but they aren’t sure what they want to do.

Anyway, a Hawaii newspaper is running an informal poll asking if people are in favor of civil unions or against them. The email I received from my uncle encouraged me to vote against civil unions. I did just the opposite, of course. But wouldn’t it be nice if the poll got a Main Street Plaza bump? (a la the Colbert Report bump) Go vote! Let’s turn the tide.

Thanks. I voted and passed it along to Andrew Sullivan. May be, he’ll feature you, Prof.

Doesn’t Hawaii already have some unique legal arrangement kind of like Civil Unions? Reciprocal Beneficiaries or something?
